{ Kylie + Derrick  |  Santa Barbara, CA }

As you can imagine, we were excited and honored to be able to document this wedding day in beautiful Santa Barbara!

Kylie and Derrick approached me after a long year of COVID lockdowns and asked us to shoot not only one, but TWO of their upcoming events. In May they tied the knot in an intimate backyard ceremony in Portland (photo below) and then in October we got to party it up with them again in Santa Barbara!

 

My husband Kurt and I loved the excuse to transplant to warmer weather and took the opportunity to check out Beverly Hills and Rodeo Drive (holy Tesla’s…) before driving up the coast! We spent an evening gawking at the amazing Santa Barbara architecture and in the morning enjoyed some breakfast on the pier. Such a great little getaway!

Kylie & Derrick’s afternoon wedding took place in a friend’s backyard- a space that has been used to host a number of weddings in their friend group! Filled with giant succulent gardens and rock paths, it was such a fun change of scenery for us to photograph.

From a vibrant color palette of bridesmaids dresses to multiple confetti canons, a group of rowdy groomsmen and a CRAZY dance party, no one can deny that this group of friends knows how to celebrate! (Apparently these intense dance parties are a staple at every wedding these groomsmen attend… note the matching biker vests….. lol.)

This wedding capped off our 2021 wedding season on a high note!
