One of the many lessons I learned in 2020 is that ‘Mini Sessions’ are THE BEST.  I’ve never had an official mini session package and I now sit here and wonder why. Perfect for the young family, mini sessions last 20-30 minutes and are just the right amount of time to get the photos we need without running into meltdowns and nap times (or hangry husbands…let’s be real).

It was late Spring when I first realized we could be in for the long haul with COVID. Seeing my wedding season vanish into thin air, I started reaching out to local families for these tiny, socially distanced porch sessions. Any reason to put on some real pants… am I right?

It quickly turned into families wanting these “porch” sessions to be held at the park… and from there my official “mini” was born. Yes- many other photographers already have a mini session, but it took me until now to realize the value of the tiny shoot! I love it as it opens up a more approachable option for families that just don’t have the capacity for a full blown session during this season of life.

For this photoshoot in particular we hit it just right for a gorgeous golden hour at the riverfront park in Salem!  In 30 minutes we were able to run to a variety of locations, get all of the photo combinations we wanted, and STILL have time for a post-session pitstop at the playground before the sun went down.  I’d say it was a success. 🙂  I’ve gotten to document the Robison family a few times, and it is so fun to see their kids grow!

Whether you have a young family, a smaller budget, or just don’t love the idea of a longer photo shoot, a mini session just might be a good fit for you!
